being an onsen town and a popular japanese and taiwanese tourist spot, cant really expect a lot from the hotel buffet.
still, there was jewel among the stones
chawanmushi and crab stick stall
my all-time favourite : grilled hotate
of course, no Japan trip is complete without sashimi!
friendly chef at crab and hotate counter
incidentally there was a singaporean couple with their mother, who whacked the crab like there's no tomorrow. when we left the restaurant, they were still at it.

Had our one and only grilled hotate at a roadside stall in Otaru. Simply delicious. We can literally smell the sea from the scallop. Yummy.
Which hotel did you stay in Noboribetsu?
i stayed at 第一滝本館
Ah Daichi Takimotokan right? I will be going there in one month's time. Can you do a review of sorts about that place? Thx!
could you pls identify yourself, anonymous? at least tell me whether you m or f, so that i know whether to elaborate on the hotspring. anyway, i will be posting pics of noboribetsu later on.
Oh er, I am the anonymous poster. I just found your blog while searching for Hokkaido information. Anyway I am male.
hi dbrane, daichi takimotokan is along the onsen street on noboribetsu.
do you have anything specific you want to know about hokkaido or noboribetsu?
better ask me while it's still "fresh" in my mind. hee..
Ok there are a few. Howz the hot spring bath in general? Are there any interesting sites to see in the surroundings? What made you choose the buffet package instead of the in-room dinner? Is there anything to do at night, after the dinner? Thx!
do you have this link? http://www.noboribetsu-spa.jp/en/index.htm
dt is a stone throw away from Jigokudani (Hell's Valley). in fact, the guy's side of rotenburo has a view of the valley.
the rotenburo was very nice in winter, it was snowing and the water was hot enuf, but not boiling hot (certain "pools" have hotter water than others).
we chose the buffet package mainly because of price. but frankly, the buffet was so-so, like the buffet in singapore. but good thing is, no one "cheong" for the crab, so you can eat to your heart's content! of course, beware of yeow gui singaporeans :)
