I took a photo of your last pic at the same angle. We went into that last shop you mentioned. You did not miss anything.
If you had then turned backwards and walked towards the train station, you will pass by this vet and you may see a neko sitting at the door entrance. Opposite the vet is a temple which has this small family of neko.
